Ronald L. Fox
Ronald L. Fox is the President of The Fox Group, Inc., headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The firm specializes in public relations and advocacy, in the area of telecommunications, technology, health care, real estate development, marketing, strategic planning, event planning and crisis management.
Since 2008 Mr. Fox has written a weekly story for the Deseret News the oldest daily newspaper in the West on History and photography He is currently the Co-author with Mayor Mike Winder of a 2011 book entitled “When the White House Comes to Zion”.
Mr. Fox has dedicated over thirty years to government service. During his years at the California Capitol, Fox served as principal minority consultant to the Senate Committee on Finance where he was one of few individuals responsible for California's then $40 billion dollar budget. He also served as Chief Assistant to the Republican Whip and Senate Republican Leader. Other actives in which he has played a key role were: the development of the Jarvis-Gann initiative/Proposition 13, The creation of the City of Laguna Niguel Transportation Commission, the management of Proposition 7, the Death Penalty Act (California’s Current law) and assisting his wife Linda in the creation of the original organization and first chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD).
Following his government service, Mr. Fox served as the Western States Director of Public Affairs, for American Medical International, a Fortune 500 company and in a similar position for FHP Healthcare of Utah.
Since 1972, Mr. Fox has provided volunteer assistance to the White House Advance office and U.S. State Department, Protocol Office assisting Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush and for Vice Presidents Quayle, Rockefeller and Cheney. He has also traveled with Mrs. Ford, Reagan, and both Mrs. Bushes as well as Republican Nominee Bob Dole. He has assisted with the planning and execution of numerous visits of foreign heads of state, including the Presidents of China, Ecuador, Brazil, Philippines, the King of Sweden, Queen of England, The Secretary General of the United Nations, The Dali Lama and the Pope. In November of 2002 Mr. Fox assisted at the NATO Summit in Prague, Czech Republic, assisting in the activities of Mrs. Laura Bush. In June of 2004 he was invited to assist at the G-8 Summit held at Sea Island, Georgia, were he was responsible for the visit of the President of Iraq and President of Uganda.
Mr. Fox has served as a consultant to the Leadership Committee of the Utah Legislature for the ‘92 & ‘94 sessions. He was a member of the Governor-elect's transition team over the Public Services Commission. In 1992, 1996 and 2000 he was elected a Delegate to the Republican National Conventions and was selected to be the 1996 Delegation Executive Director and the platform delegate in 2000. In May of 2000 he was elected a member of the United States Electoral College, the body of 538 individuals under the United States Constitution that actually elects the President of the United States. In the 2000 election, the Presidency was won by one electoral vote. Elected as the Alternate Presidential Elector in 2004 & 2008. From 1994 to 1996 he served twice as the President of the Republican Party’s major donor’s organization The Elephant Club and a member of the state party’s executive committee representing the 2nd Congressional District. From 1992 to 2000 he was a member of the Republican State Central Committee.
In 1999 he was appointed the State Executive Director of the George W. Bush for President Committee, and was the State Vice Chair for Bush/Cheney ’04 in Utah. In 1997 & 2001 he served as the Executive Director of Governor Leavitt’s Inaugural Committee. He also served as a staff member on the 2001 & one of the 100 members of 2004 Presidential Inaugural Committee for George W. Bush.
In conjunction with the opening of Winter Olympic Games of 2002, Mr. Fox produced and directed the State of Utah’s welcoming ceremonies for The President of the United States & Mrs. Bush. In attendance at the ceremony of 2000 guests, where 3 foreign heads of state, 7 U.S. cabinet members, a Congressional Delegation, 4 Governors, the President of the International Olympic Committee and The Secretary General of the United Nations. Later that month Mr. Fox also directed the State’s closing ceremony with the former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani as the guest of honor.
In 1993 he was appointed a member of the Joint Legislative Task Force on the Information Technology and Communications. He is the former member and Chairman of the Salt Lake County Library Board and State Information Technology Commission. In 1996 he was the lead legislative advocate who crafted the Utah Telecommunications Reform act two years prior to the Federal Act.
Mr. Fox attended El Camino College, Torrance, and California State University, Fullerton. In 1990 he was named to Who's Who in the Nation & World. His efforts and accomplishments have been recognized in resolutions from the California and Utah State Senate, Orange County Board of Supervisors and Salt Lake County Commission. He was a member of the Ft. Douglas Military Museum Board, the Legacy Films board and is a member of the Colonial Flag Foundation Board.
He has been married for 35 years to the former Linda Johnson, they have three children; Jennifer Fox Young of Washington D.C., Elizabeth Fox Wilson who resides in Salt Lake City and Kari Fox Hardy, currently a student at BYU Idaho, The Fox family reside in North Salt Lake, Utah.
